This project was focused on creating a book cover for "Howls Moving Castle" only using typography.
This project started with basic research into the book and its visual aspects leading into many visual designs with typography all culminating into one cohesive book cover design.
The Challenge
The challenge in this project was on findign a visual aspect of the book that you can turn into typography without losing the image and character the book provides.

Through extensive research and testing, I succeeded in finding an idea that I would stick with.
Design Process
Research & Discovery
I began with research on other visual book covers of both this book and others. This lead into research on the story itself, what visual aspects stand out such as characters or objects.
Concept Development
- Pin Point a visual aspect of the book.
- Choose a colour palette to match both the story and visual identity of the book.
- Explore using typography to create an image all the while communicating the books name.
Refinement & Execution
After feedback sessions with lectures and fellow students I recieved great feedback and was able to implement changes to take my design to the finish line.
The Solution
The final design communicates the books title within a design of one of the notable characters of the book. I believe this design is perfect for a visual book such as this.
